El Zahraa is an expert in research and knowledge mobilization, with extensive experience spanning academia, policy development, and applied research. Most recently, El Zahraa has been a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Toronto, focusing on sports, physical activity, immigration, and mental health. Alongside this, El Zahraa is also a teaching adjunct at Queen’s University teaching Health Policy.
Previously, El Zahraa has worked in research and teaching roles, including work with marginalized communities in Canada and beyond, where she has contributed to projects on immigration, equity, and community well-being. She has collaborated with researchers in government and community members in Canada and internationally. Notably, she has worked with community-based and humanitarian organizations in Lebanon and collaborated with researchers in Qatar and the United States. Throughout her career, El Zahraa has been involved in initiatives aimed at bridging research and practice, ensuring that knowledge is accessible and actionable. Her work emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, intersectional analysis, and policy impact.
